If  I told you there was a single fruit that comes as close as possible regarding the restoration or maintenance of optimal health, it might make your eyebrows raise. While I am writing this to you right now I have this fruit in my refrigerator and I want to make sure that it is an indispendable part of my dietary habits. I am talking about the awesome health benefits of pomegranate. Its anti-inflammatory properties, its ability to battle any kind of infection and its liver-rejuvenating power are only few of its benefits. Non-vegans whose diet is often still based on processed food resulting into an “overdose” of triglycerides with their hazardous impact on the heart health should eat one pomegranate at least once a day because it contributes essentially to remove these triglycerides. “A new study published in the journal Atherosclerosis confirms that pomegranate extract may prevent and/or reverse the primary pathology associated with cardiac mortality: the progressive thickening of the coronary arteries caused by the accumulation of fatty materials known as atherosclerosis. Pomegranate was found to not only improve blood flow in the cardiovascular system of heart patients, but also helped to reduce inflammation and high blood pressure. Pomegranates aid in reducing excess triglycerides, which form as a result of a diet high in processed foods. Removing these excess triglycerides may help to ward off heart attacks and various heart problems.

  1. Pomegranate reduces body fat. According to a study (here) from the University of Edinburgh, pomegranates can help reduce visceral fat – the most dangerous kind of fat.

  4. Helping in reducing the plaque deposits in the arteries and prevent clotting of blood.
